What we are all about
Discipleship Works’ ministry philosophy is to fulfill the Great Commission that Jesus gave the church. In Matthew 28, Jesus instructs His followers to make disciples. They were commanded to Go, Baptize, and Teach others. This directive has been passed down and is something to be fulfilled in our day. Along with the command to go, 2 Timothy 2:2 gives us the instructions that Paul told Timothy at the end of his life. He instructed him to take everything he had learned and teach it to faithful people who could teach others.
A disciple is simply a follower and a learner, and Jesus commands us to go and make more followers of Him. This is best practiced in an apprentice-mentor relationship. Through this, they will continue to develop their relationship with Christ by practicing the spiritual disciplines. They will also learn how to cultivate them in others.
This is the heart of Discipleship Works, where people will learn and grow under a more experienced disciple-maker and then be released to repeat the process. The Gospel was not meant to end with us, but we are instead to be a conduit from which flows.
